There are different ways for you to volunteer! The gift of presence and the gift of financial assistance through monetary donations, staff appreciation events, and needs and necessities throughout the community.
We have multiple opportunities to help throughout the year! You will see a gift of self and a gift of items. We also will share volunteer activities outside of JHS through our community.

PTSA VOLUNTEER Financial Review- Three people are needed. As a nonprofit and a board managing their memberships' money, its critical to have a review of the financial books every 6 months. The review is comprised of walking through a prescribed checklist and reviewing the provided documents, noting any discrepancies, and presenting the review to the membership. No prior experience or financial experience is needed. The only requirement is all reviewers must be PTSA Members. Timeline for the review- Jan-February. |

PTSA VOLUNTEER Nomination Committee- Looking for a short-term, easy, but impactful way to help your JHS PTSA?! Consider volunteering for the Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee is responsible for vetting and selecting the slate of officers to be elected to serve on the 2024-25 JHS PTSA Executive Board (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary) -- a critical key to the health and inclusion of JHS PTSA. The Nominating Committee consists of three JHS PTSA members in good standing that are willing to receive lots of gratitude. We have training and support in place to help you be successful. JHS VOLUNTEER AVID Tutors/Coaches: AVID is a college readiness program that seeks to help students develop their academic and soft skills to find success in school and be prepared for college. Our AVID students engage in a process called tutorial. They bring a question to work through from one of their classes. Their peers and the AVID tutor/coach use an inquiry process to help the student develop a deeper understanding of their question, connect background knowledge, and possibly answer their question. You do not need to know all the content, it is more about supporting the inquiry process. You would be assigned to work with a group of 4-6 students for each round of tutorial. You will be provided a brief training by the AVID Site Coordinator or Admin to help support you as you support our students. New for 2023-24 school year, JHS is inviting Adults into the school to be an extra smiling face, an extra set of eyes and simply another adult our students see supporting them. Volunteers will check in with the front office and then roam around the building as directed. This is an opportunity to be in your student's school, see what happens and help support the students and staff. Slots are short, but volunteers may sign up for as many as they would like. JHS VOLUNTEER Womens Advocacy Club Part of the goal of the Womens Advocacy Club is to address period stigma and illuminate barriers to menstrual products within our JHS community. Teachers have a sign on their door or window that indicates tampons, pads, wipes are available in that room. We are looking to help restock this supply. Items can be purchased from the Amazon Wish list or brought to the office in person.
